12 perish in motor accident in Kano

Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that 12 people have lost their lives in an accident along Kano-Kaduna expressway on Monday.

The accident occurred as a result of the collision of two commercial Toyota buses around 3 pm in the Tsamawa town of Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state. 

The Kano State Fire Service spokesman, Saminu Yusuf, said they received a call about the accident from one Isa Maishayi, and that when they arrived at the scene, the two vehicles were already engulfed in flames.

He noted that they were unable to identify the bodies of the vehicle numbers.

“On Monday, 28 February 2022, our fire station at Kura LGA received an emergency call at about 15:00hrs from one Isah Mai Fetur, who reported a road accident/fire at Tsamawa town in Garun Malam Local Government Area.

“Our men from Kura reached the area at about 15:12hrs and found that two commercial vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus collided with a J5 and all with unknown registration numbers were engulfed by fire. 

Twelve people were involved, 11 from the Haice bus which was coming from Zaria to Kano, and one person inside the J5 which was leaving Kano to Kaduna,’’ he said.
