13 days after abduction, Agriculture Minister’s brother yet to regain freedom

It is exactly the 13 days after the abduction of Alhaji Babawuro Tofai, a younger brother of the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, in Kano, but he is yet to regain his freedom from the hands of his kidnappers.

The Sahelian Times exclusively broke the news of how Alhaji Babawuro Tofai was whisked away by unknown gunmen in his residence in Gabasawa Local Government area of the state.

A source in the Minister’s family, however, told Sahelian Times that the abductors are yet to contact the family of the victim for any negotiations, generating a palpable concern among members.

It could also be recalled that Sahelian Times’ exclusive investigations revealed more facts on how the Minister’s brother was abducted.

In an interview, Minister’s close friend, Alhaji Joda said, “In the night, the gunmen broke into the house, in search of the Minister’s brother Babawuro Tofai, who is an immediate brother to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono.”

“Tofai was then hidden by his wives in his house, after they understood something suspicious was going on.”

He said, another brother of the Minister, who mistook the gunmen’s movement to that of children come out to check on what is happening.

The gunmen upon noticing his movement, summoned him to their leader.

“They broke his legs after realizing before, he is not the person they come looking for,” he revealed.

They later succeeded into Tofai’s house and threatened to kill the wives if they refused to provide him.

“Upon hearing the gunmen threatening his Tofai come out of hiding and they whisked him away warning to shot at him if refuse to cooperate,” Joda narrated.

There is increasing reports of kidnapping of politicians and their family members recently in Northern Nigeria.
