Nigerian Correctional Service said that 18 prisoners have completed their degrees while in detention from the National Open University (NOUN) distant learning programme.
The development was disclosed from the service spokesman Francis Enabore in a statement on Thursday.
Mr. John Mrabure congratulated the prisoners for attaining such height, and call upon them to use the degree as a building block of their lives after detention.
“At least 3000 prisoners are currently undergoing different programmes in Open University, while another 50 are undergoing NCE programme with Yewa College of Education in Ogun,” Francis Enabore said
He added that the service currently has 12 study centers nationwide.
