The Nigerian Police Force, Kano Command, has announced a major feat in its fight against criminal activities in the ancient city. In a press release singed by the PPRO, DSP Kiyawa, the Command has arrested a criminal syndicate which is involved in phones snatching and robbery. DSP Kiyawa further highlighted the successes recorded by Kano Police Command as follows:
1. Bursting a criminal syndicate where 67 suspects have so far been arrested
2 Four Tricycles, 12 motorcycles, and 68 mobile phones have been recovered from the syndicate.
3. 242 suspects were arrested from 9th September 2020 to 16th October 2020 for various offences ranging from armed-robbery, jidnapping, thuggery, and drug dealings.

Arrests
i. Twenty Four (24) Armed Robbery suspects and Seventeen (17) Kidnapping suspects.
ii. Eight (8) Motor Vehicles Thieves, Ten (10) Tricycles Thieves and Seventeen (17) Motorcycles Thieves.
iii. 5 rape suspects.
iv. 6 drug dealers.
v. 16 fraudsters.
vi. 67 suspects that specialized in mobile robbery, phone snatching, and stealing.
vii. 72 thugs (‘Yan-Daba).
Recoveries
i. 9 assorted arms, including 2 AK47 rifles, 1 Beretta pistol, 2 locally made pistols, and 6 locally made guns.
ii. 5 motor vehicles, 9 tricycles, and 17 motorcycles.
iii. 13 bags and 222 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemps valued at N2,820,000.00).
iv.3 Cartons of Codieine valued at N360,000.00
v. 334 diazapam tablets and 500 illicit drugs valued at N250,200.
vi. 96 assorted knives used by Thugs (Yan Daba).
vii. 87 mobiles phones recovered.
viii. 1 Point of Sale (POS) machine, 2 laptop computers, 6 different SIM cards used by fraudsters.
ix. Sum of One Million Three Hundred Thousand Naira.
From our records, most of the suspects that were arrested for mobile phone theft use motorcycles. These motorcycles are either stolen, borrowed, or hired in form of what is popularly called OPay. We are using this medium to be loud and categorical that whoever gives out his motorcycle and is used to aid the commission of crime, will be arrested and prosecuted.
