Swedish football icon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is set to sign new contract that will lengthen his stay for one more season at San siro.

Ibrahimovic, who will turn 41 in October, decided to take a significant pay cut to continue playing for the Serie A champions.

The 40 year-old contributed 11 goals and assists to help the Italian club end their 11 year Serie A title drought last season.

He played the majority of the campaign under painkillers as a result of an injury sustained on his left knee.

At the end of last season, the Swedish forward underwent a knee repair surgery with recovery period that may well reach 7 months.

It was largely predicted that that was the end Zlatan’s extensive footballing career.

However, with recent information of his new deal with the Italian champions, Zlatan will continue playing football for at least one more season.
