A reliable source from Zamfara State has confirmed that the recently abducted schoolgirls are still in captivity.

The source, who craves anonymity, said, “negotiation is still ongoing. There is hope that they may soon release the girls. It could be today or tomorrow. But they are still not free.”

Earlier today, rumours went round that the girls have been freed, and are on their way to the state capital to meet with Governor Bello Matawalle.

The story of their release got traction considering that Gov. Matawalle was instrumental to negotiating release of hundreds of Kankiya schoolboys abducted months ago in Katsina.
