Abia Govt to gift N500 to expecting mothers for each hospital delivery

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has stated that the state provides N500 to pregnant women who give birth at primary health care facilities in the state.

Ikpeazu disclosed this on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, On Wednesday,

“Abia State has enrolled in basic health insurance for pregnant women.” “If you give birth in any of our centers, you get N500,” Mr Ikpeazu said.

“Delivery is free, and they give you a delivery pack and N500, which is running for the most vulnerable members of society.”

When asked what the N500 could do for women, the governor replied, “free delivery, are you asking a poor woman, what will she do with N500?” Some people don’t have it.” “At the very least, it will pay their way back home.”

According to the Abia State Strategy Health Development Plan, the state has 687 primary health care centers spread across its 17 Local Government Areas. As part of the basic health insurance initiative for pregnant women, the governor said the state has a free delivery policy and a N500 take-home package.
