After receiving about 201 million naira from friends and fans, Davido has promised to add 50 million naira from his savings to donate the funds to orphanages across Nigeria.
The music star has raised a 5-man committee that will take charge of distributing the funds to various foundations and motherless babies homes all over Nigeria.
Davido explained his reasons for donating the 250 million Naira to orphanages in a statement, saying he plans to do the same thing every year. He made the announcement on Saturday, November 20th, 2021, via his Instagram page.
On Thursday, Davido put out his account number on his social media pages, asking his friends and fans to send him 1 million naira each. Immediately, the funds started rolling in and he got 40 million naira within 2 hours.
The amount that was raised in two days ran up to 200 million naira, and the singer has finally decided to complement with his own money and do something worthwhile with the funds.
According to the statement, Davido revealed that he has put together a disbursement committee that will see that the 250 million gets to the orphanages.
