Gernot Rohr’s successor, Jose Peseiro, took charge of his first home game with the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone in Abuja to kickstart AFCON qualifiers. Goals from Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen were enough to give the 62-year old coach a dream home start in charge of the Super Eagles.

The AFCON qualification match ended 2-1 as Nigeria began her hunt for a place in the next year’s African Nations Cup in Ivory Coast. The Super Eagles, who are currently seating second in group A table, below Guinea-Bissau on goal difference, are the favorites to win their group.
