Allegation of criminal record, rejection by other aspirants threaten ambition of APC’s Kano municipal LG chairmanship candidate

Seventeen of the twenty three Kano municipal local government chairmanship aspirants have rejected Fa’izu Alfindiki as candidate for the elective post ahead of the impending election.

In a petition to the state chairman of the All Progressives Party, the aspirants described Fa’izu as an imposition on both members of the Party and the electorate.

The petition written by their solicitors, Noreini Jimoh chamber, contends that Fa’izu who has not resigned from a public office, the development violates Article 31(1)(iii) of APC Constitution which says, “Any Party office holder interested in contesting for an elective office (whether Party office or in a general election shall resign or leave office 30 days prior to the date of nomination or Party primary for the office he or she is seeking to contest.”

The complaint further disclosed that, the ill-advised decision by the Party was inconsistent with an earlier consensus amongst the 23 aspirants that, Murtala Sunusi Dandawaki would carry the Party’s banner during the local government election.

It also suggests that the sacrifice made by the 378 delegates to settle for a consensus candidate is not appreciated, which may impel them to insist on conduct of a fresh primary election.

A picture of the candidate holding an incriminating placard of once being a accused of criminality was attached to the petition.

The petition entitled, ‘Complaint of infraction of Party Constitution’ also says the 17 aspirants include Honourable Suleiman Haruna, Honourable Shamwilu Sa’ad Usman and Honourable Mahmoud Sarki Abdullahi
