Alleged assault: Court summons KAROTA boss

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has ordered a Criminal summon against the Managing Director of Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Baffa Babba DanA’gundi, for physically assaulting a tricycle rider in the state.

The presiding Judge, Ibrahim Khalil Mahmoud ordered that the investigation before the police complaints is hereby terminated.

He added that, “A criminal summon is hereby ordered to be issued against Defendant to appear personally to respond to allegation against him.”

The Judge adjourned the sitting to 22nd March 2021.

In an interview with the counsel to the complainer, Barrister Abba Hikima said that, they decided to go the court, because the police command in the state are unnecessary prolonging their investigation.

It could be recalled that, the Managing Director of Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, has been dragged to court by group of human right lawyers for allegedly using his fist to physically assault a 21-year-old tricycle rider, Mujitapha Isa, with heavy blows on his neck, head and chest causing grievous body harm.
