John C. Maxwell, one of America’s most celebrated writers and author of ‘The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader.’ said all real leadership is being the person others will gladly and confidently follow. The above quote clearly and succinctly depicts Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle’s current standing where, even after being unjustly sacked by the Supreme court in favour of the then APC Zonal Youth Leader Alh Bello Maigari Kasimu shortly after the 2019 general elections, his sustained love and care for his people has continued to earn him public goodwill, his never changing bedrock principle that governance is about about serving the people continues to endear him to many, and his combined traits of humility, accessibility, and generosity places him far above his contemporaries.
Dr. Malle’s acceptance of the court verdict in good faith and without any hesitation has, to the amazement of everyone, snowballed his reputation and further cemented his right to the place his immediate successor is hitherto struggling to occupy.
With just 853 days left to 2023 general elections, the combined voices of people from the thirty-one (31) wards that made up Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing Federal Constituency became louder, re-echoing in amplified tone for Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle to represent them again, and structures are hitherto being lubricated in readiness of his imminent return to power in 2023.
Indeed, since the return to democratic dispensation in 1999, the good people of Jalingo-Yorro-Zing constituency has never had it so good with anyone else but Dr. Malle. Preceded by Hon. Henry M. Shawulu, Dr. Malle has produced stellar performances which includes but not limited to building manpower capacity of his constituents through various youths and women empowerments, built new and upgraded existing educational infrastructures, and has sponsored significant agricultural empowerment programmes that still, in my opinion, have not lost the relevance that was uniquely his doing.
Notwithstanding his current role as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Malle has continued to build on his remarkable achievements recorded throughout his 8years stint at National Assembly, and those spanning his entire political career. One of his most notable efforts and which stemmed from his burning desire to better the lives of his constituents in particular and the nation in general is the Bill he singlehandedly sponsored for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture Jalingo, which has since been passed by the House of Representatives and is now transmitted to the Senate for concurrence.
Simon Sinek, author of bestselling book Leaders Eat Last said leadership is about integrity, honesty, and accountability with all components of trust. Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle has demonstrated all these traits since joining partisan politics 23years ago.
The Man Aminu Ibrahim Malle
Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle was born on Tuesday, 23rd September 1969 into the royal family of late Alh. Umar Ibrahim Malle (Wazirin Muri) and his mother late Hajja Mairam Hureira Damburam Mafindi is a Princess of Muri. Late Waziri Malle was the acting Emir of Muri (Wakilin Muri) after the deposition of the eleventh Emir of Muri Lamido Umaru Abba Tukur in 1986 by Military Governor of the then Gongola state, Yahanna Madaki. At the age of seven he began his early education at the first formal school in the history of Muri Emirate, Muhammadu Nya Primary School Jalingo where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1981. The young, energetic, and ambitious Malle then proceeded to Marmara Government Secondary School Wukari and Government Secondary School Bali where he obtained his General Certificate in Education (GCE) from 1982 to 1986.
Since his early years, Dr. Malle has developed and manifested great passion for educational pursuits. He was convinced early that education is the bedrock or foundation upon which individuals and governments can function effectively. That is why immediately after he secured his first school leaving certificate, he sought and obtained admission into the Collage of Agriculture (CoA) Jalingo where he graduated with Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Animal Health and Husbandry in 1989.
Notwithstanding the competitive nature of admission process and selection into Nigerian Universities in the 90s, Dr. Malle at the age of 21 secured a provisional offer of admission into the University of Maiduguri where he obtained a Bachelors of Sciences degree in Animal Sciences with second class upper division in 1995.
Dr. Malle’s indispensable passion for learning, his long held belief that education is the surest vehicle of human emancipation and development permeated his resolve to proceed to Federal University of Technology, Yola where, between 2003 to 2007, his academic publications titled ”Performance of Yankasa Rams Fed on Ficus Sycomurus Supplemented with different levels of Maize Bran’ (2006)” and ”Use of Browse Plants as Basal Diet for Fattening Sheep in Taraba state (PhD thesis” earned him a Master of Technology (M. Tech) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD. in view) degrees in Animal Production and Management respectively.
Six months after he received his NYSC certificate of national service and a brief stint working in the banking sector, the good people of Jalingo 1 Constituency prevailed on Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle to represent them in the State House of Assembly. The election which was held on December 6, 1997 had Dr. Malle massively voted and returned elected as Honourable Member Representing Jalingo 1 under the platform of United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) and sworn in on Monday, February 23, 1998.
Unfortunately on June 8, 1998, General Sani Abacha, the then military leader died in mysterious circumstances and was replaced by General Abdulsalami Abubakar who then announced dissolution of government nationwide and established a new independent electoral commission and outlined a schedule for elections
and transition to full civilian rule (fourth republic). But for Dr. Malle, leaving the state House of Assembly too soon was never a setback.
To Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle, politics must not be the only way to serve humanity. And inline with this belief, he joined the service of his alma mata, the Taraba state College of Agriculture Jalingo as Assistant Lecturer where through hard work, diligence, patience, and commitment towards educational advancements of the institution he rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2004. That same year, he was appointed Sole Administrator of Jalingo Local Government for a period of one month between March and April 2004 after which he returned to the classroom to continue where he stopped.
On Friday, September 23rd 2005, the day he turned 36years, he was appointed Honourable Commissioner in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation by the administration of Rev. Jolly T. Nyame where he served for a period of one year before he was made caretaker Committee Chairman, Jalingo Local Government in 2006. And on assumption of office, the administration of late Danbaba Suntai appointed him Special Assistant on local government Affairs. A position he held until 2011 when he contested and was elected to represent the good people of Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing Federal Constituency under the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a position he held until 2019.
Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Malle’s proven track records, exemplary style of leadership, and a people-focused approach to representation among other traits remains unmatched, unrivalled, and equalled by anyone in the history of Jalingo-Yorro-Zing federal Constituency. And that, perhaps explained why two years and two months to 2023 general elections, the people of JYZ federal Constituency have since commenced preparations to get Magayakin Mumuye back in the Green Chamber come 2023 in sha Allah.
