Nigerians have continued to react to the murder of a Kano based woman by her alleged Chinese lover.
According to SAHELIAN TIMES, the 47-year-old Chinese man and the deceased UmmulKhairi Buhari were in a relationship before she married in late 2020.
However, Ummulkhairi was divorced by her husband in 2022 and later reconnected with her Chinese lover.
However, on Friday, the deceased was stabbed to death by Mr Geng in her parents’ home for a yet to be established reason.
Nigerians on the social media platform Twitter, have erupted in angry reactions. Many of them are particularly irked by how a foreigner developed the temerity to attack and murder a Nigerian in her own home.
@SkinnyBoi001_ Queried the true independence of Nigerians if foreigners could maim them in their country and get free;
“If the Chinese man who k!lled Ummita goes free, then it is crystal clear that Nigeria is still in slave trade. You can’t have all this independence and a foreigner k!lls one of your citizen in your country and goes free/alive #JusticeForUmmita”
“The picture of the Chinese man who slitted Ummita’s throat in kano. This is really disturbing. Whatever prompted his action should be rigorously investigated and action should be taken accordingly. This incident has really touched a sensible spot in heart. May her soul of RIP.” @jibreelKhalil lamented.
“I’m livid wallahi. Why would you hand over a Chinese guy that butchered your own sister in her own home to police? Why?”, @waspapping queried.
Muhammad El-Bonga, a tweep, opined that this case is among the numerous atrocities of the Chinese in Nigeria, who always go scot free.
“Nigeria pampers Chinese in our construction sites with police escort. In return, our indigenous labourers in Chinese sites get exploited and abused. Many Chinese have been arrested for illegal mining. As if that is not bad enough,one of them boldly killed a Nigerian lady in Kano,” @el_bonga lamented.
Another tweep, @whitenigerian expressed his worry over the recent trail of domestic killings in Abuja and Kano;
“Few days ago, someone’s best friend stabbed and threw him in the pool to die in Abuja. Today, Ummita’s Chinese friend stabbed her to death in Kano. Our enemies are very close. Be careful. #JusticeForUmmita”
Although the suspected murderer is in police custody, the Kano State Police Command has not yet commented on the matter, and all efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa have proved abortive.
