The Kano State Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Shehu Na’Allah Kura, has resigned from office in a major to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

SAHELIAN TIMES learnt that shortly after his resignation, Kura, a loyalist of, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, a former governor of the state, was named flag bearer for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kura/Madobi/Garin Malam Federal Constituency.

In his resignation letter sighted by this paper, Na’Allah cited his decision to resign on personal reasons, and in no way indIcative of any dissatisfaction with his role within the Ganduje‘s Cabinet.

“I will like to extend my most sincere appreciation to His Excellency for finding me worthy to work as a Commissioner in your government; first as Commissioner for Planning and Budget, and later as Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development,” he explained.

Close watchers of the recent political developments in Kano are speculating that his resignation is related to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau’s defection to the NNPP, on Wednesday.

More loyalists of the former governor are expected to defect to the recently invigorated party, which has become the main opposition party in state.
