APJ appoints Nigerian, Jameel Yusha’u, editor-in-chief

The Africa Policy Journal ( APJ) has named a Nigerian Muhammad Jameel Yusha’u as its new Editor-in-Chief ( EIC.

Yusha’u, a 2022-2023 Mid-Career Master in Public Administration Candidate at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, succeeds Adaobi Ezeokoli, who recently stepped down as EIC.

According to a statement in the journal website “The Africa Policy Journal is privileged to have Yusha’u lead the continued effort to highlight policy issues affecting the African continent to the Harvard community in the next academic year.”

He holds BA in Mass Communications from Bayero University, an M.A. in Political Communication and a PhD in Journalism Studies from the University of Sheffield. In 2015 he completed an MBA from IE Business School, Madrid, Spain. 

Yusha’u, a former British Chevening Scholar, has strong interests in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the role of communication in achieving the 2030 agenda for development. 

Outgoing EIC Adaobi Ezeokoli noted that Yusha’u brings a wealth of expertise and insight to the Africa Policy Journal leadership role.

“I have gotten to know Jameel over the past year and I am confident that he is the person to continue at the helm of the APJ. His passion for the continent and his incredible depth of expertise in communications and humility in leadership make him the right choice. I am excited for how the Journal will benefit from these qualities in the next year!”

APJ is a student-run online publication dedicated to promoting dialogue about African policy and current affairs in the realms of governance, law, education, business, health, design and culture.
