Army rescues female soldier abducted by gunmen

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the rescue of a female Lieutenant, P. P. Johnson, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen terrorizing the Okigwe axis in Nigeria’s south-eastern region.

She was rescued on Thursday, by her colleagues who also arrested the mastermind of the abduction.

A military source said that Johnson was rescued in a forest bordering Enugu and Imo States.

Earlier, a viral video showed the officer while being tortured by the gunmen after she was abducted from her hometown in Ihube in Imo State.

According to sources close to the Military, Johnson was said to have travelled to her hometown for the Yuletide season.
