Zamfara State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has denied the involvement of any of its members in banditry activities.

NMA while reacting to news published by some media platforms (not SAHELIAN TIMES) with a caption “Police in Zamfara arrest Medical Doctor, 7 others in connection with banditry”, said that the person in question is a medical laboratory technician “not a medical doctor”.

The umbrella body of the doctors also alleged that the arrested laboratory technician is of the habit of parading himself as a medical doctor, with the intent of defrauding others.

In the statement signed by both the Chairman and the Secretary of Zamfara State branch of NMA, Dr. Mannir, and Dr. Remigius, respectively, they noted that “only holders of MBBS, MBchB are entitled to be called Doctors”.
