A group of bandits has invaded Tsafe in Zamfara State and kidnapped a senior officer of the Nigerian Customs Service.
SAHELIAN TIMES gathered the bandits came in large numbers in the late hours of Friday.
A source who spoke with our reporter claimed that the officer, identified as Muhassan Lawali, has not visited the community for a while.
“It was really shocking because Lawali arrived at Tsafe shortly before he was abducted by the unknown gunmen,” the source narrated.
The source also said that the bandits only kidnapped Lawali without abducting or killing any other person, raising suspicion of kidnapping for ransom.
The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command could not be reached for comment at the time of writing this report.
