Bandits killed scores of people and kidnapped many others in a five-day attacking spree across various communities of Giwa Local Government, Kaduna State.

SAHELIAN TIMES gathered that the sustained onslaught was from Thursday, March 25, to Monday, March 29, 2022, and apart from the killing spree, several residents were robbed of their cattle while many others were displaced many others.

Some of the affected communities, according to a resident who spoke with our reporter, are Dillalai, Bare-Bari, Dan-Durumi, and Hayin-Kanwa, all of which are less than 15 kilometers from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

“When they arrived, they would kill as many people as they could, kidnap residents, and destroy property,” a source confirmed.

Many residents have fled the vulnerable communities and sought refuge in neighboring communities, according to him.

“Another concern is whether the bandits will allow us to engage in farming activities during the upcoming rainy season,” he lamented.

“They most often arrive late to the scene, usually after the terrorists have completed their operations, which usually last several hours.”

Giwa is one of the three local governments that produce the most agricultural farm produce in the state, according to him.

The police were yet to react to the incidences.
