Bandits Saturday morning stormed Gujungu town in Taura Local Government of Jigawa State and kidnapped a wife of a businessman.
This latest daredevil kidnapping is coming just about 24 hours after police had engaged some gunmen in a fire exchange in Garki Local Government of the same state.
A source told Sahelian Times that there’s has been a rise in banditry attacks and kidnapping recently in various parts of Jigawa state.
The situation has already started creating a palpable tension in the state out of fear that Jigawa is gradually joining the list of states badly hit by growing insecurity in the country.
“People should not be deceived into believing that Jigawa is the most peaceful state in the North,” a source lamented in the state.
The spokesman of Jigawa State police command, Audu Jinjiri, has confirmed the incident to Sahelian Times.
