Bandits kill 14 in Kebbi, injure others

Armed bandits have stormed three communities in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing 14 residents and leaving several others injured.  

A source who spoke to SAHELIAN TIMES said the gang came heavily armed and opened fire on the peaceful residents at about 11: 00 am on Thursday. 

According to the source, who asked not to be named for security reasons, the communities affected include Garin Auda, Unguwar Marafa, and Wasagu.

Nine people were killed in Garin Auda, four in Unguwar Marafa and one in Wasagu.

Already the deceased have been been buried according to Islamic rites. However, several people were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment at Wasagu General Hospital.

When contacted by SAHELIAN TIMES, the Kebbi State Police Command’s Spokesman, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, said he needed to speak with the Divisional Police of those affected communities before making a statement.

But at the time of filing the report, he did not get back to our reporter.
