Bandits shot dead Zamfara lawmaker

Gunmen have killed a member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly representing Shinkafi Local Government Area, Muhammad G.Ahmed.

Ahmed was ambushed and shot by gunmen along Sheme to Funtua road, and he died in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased was said to be traveling to kano for his son’s registration, who got admission in one of the educational institutions.

Until his death he was the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, and was the long serving lawmaker in the State Assembly.

He also served as local government secretary, and was a lecturer at the College of Education in Sokoto State, before he joined politics in 1999.

Confirming his death, the clerk of the House, Alhaji Shehu Saidu Anka, said the lawmaker was shot by armed bandits along Sheme-Funtua road in katsina State.

His funeral prayer would be held today at Sheikh Umar kanoma Jummuat mosque by 12am.

In his interview with SAHELIAN TIMES, the State Commissioner for Information, confirmed the tragic news and said the deceased would be buried today.
