Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, has asserted that the club don’t want to sell De Jong this summer.

The Dutch midfielder has been on top Erik Ten Hag’s radar to bolster his squad ahead of his first season in charge of the club.

The Red devils have seen their initial offer of €60m turned down by the Catalans as it was well below their asking price €85m.

However, in his recent public statement, Laporta has made it very clear that they are not willing to sell the Dutchman.

“There are clubs that want him, not just United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay,” said Laporta.

“I’m going to do everything I can in my power so that Frenkie stays here, but there’s salary issue and that would be adjusted.”

Laporta also said: “Frenkie de Jong is Barcelona player. We don’t want to sell him unless we have no other choice.”
