Massive resignations continue to rock Kano’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Manager, Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa, defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Kofa, a former federal lawmaker who is now the executive director of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), joined the NNPP on Friday, just six days after revealing his intention to dump the APC.

In another development the number of Kano State House of Assembly lawmakers who has defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has also risen to 13, with two more leaving the All Progressive Congress (APC).

With the defection of Hon. Zubairu Massu (Sumaila) and Hon. Ibrahim Ali Isa (Shanono), the newly formed party was poised to take over half of the state’s legislative seats.

The two lawmakers cited Kano South’s marginalisation, lack of internal democracy, and unequal treatment of party members as reasons for leaving the ruling party.

The defection of Kano State’s former governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, who is said to be in full swing, will likely increase the number of lawmakers who will abandon the ruling APC in the state.

Shekarau is expected to defect to the NNPP on Saturday, according to sources close to him.

The former governor is also expected to decamp with some of the party’s top brass who are loyal to him.
