Boko Haram Insurgents on Tuesday attacked and killed at least 15 people, and injured many others in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The incident reportedly happened in the Kaleri area, close to the University of Maiduguri.

HumAngle reported that residents close to the location of the explosions and gunfire fled to safety.

According to the paper, the insurgents fired multiple rockets randomly within the city centre, killing at least 15 persons and injuring dozens across several locations.

The insurgents have retreated behind the federal university after the incursion through a location known as London Sudan.

This is the first attack of its kind in years, whereby insurgents came directly into the city during the day to wreak havoc. There have been several attempts in the past, but those attacks ended at the city’s outskirts.
