A pro al-Qaeda medium reports that Boko Haram and members of Islamic State (IS) engaged in a fierce battle between each other in Nigeria.

In its weekly publication, Rocket Chat, it said IS and Boko Haram fighters clashed in Sunawa village, a border town between Nigeria and Niger.

The conflict erupted after IS fighters abducted women that are linked to Boko Haram.

The abduction forced Boko Haram to launch an attack on IS camp, killing several IS members and rescuing the women.

In 2015 leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, declared his allegiance to IS before they changed their name to ISWAP.

Shekau and his followers broke up with IS after announcing a new leader.

Report also said there was another clash between IS fighters in Somalia, few days after one of the leaders of the group, Abdel Qadir al-Mumin fell sick in December last year.
