A Brazilian model has decided to abruptly end her marriage to herself after just 90 days because she has found a new love.
Cris Galêra, 33, made headlines in back September when she celebrated her own wedding – an act known as sologamy – in front of a São Paulo Catholic church as pedestrians wondered where the groom was.
Now Galêra is terminating her marriage because she has discovered another person, according to online news portal Infobae. But she has remained tight-lipped on her new partner, and is yet to offer any further details about their romance.
‘I was happy while it lasted, I started to believe in love the moment I met someone more special,’ she said.
‘I reached a point where I matured, I realized that I am a strong and determined woman. I was always afraid of being alone, but I realized that I needed to learn to feel good about myself. When that happened, I decided to celebrate it.’
Galêra, who has over 191,000 followers on her Instagram account, took up on the decision to marry herself following a string of failed relationships.
‘Men have a hard time being faithful or staying with just one woman,’ she told the New York Post following her wedding. ‘They want several (women) at the same time.’
At the time of her wedding, the lingerie model claimed on her Instagram account that she had ‘joined the sologamy wave and decided to marry myself.
‘I’m celebrating my self love and I want to inspire other women to boost their self-esteem! Have you ever thought if this trend catches on?’
Galêra will wait making her divorce official as she will travel to London in December to celebrate her honeymoon and do a nude shoot with Playboy.
She plans to go topless and participate at the 2022 carnival in São Paulo.
‘Its my dream to parade at the carnival,’ Galêra said, as quoted by Brazilian online outlet G1.
‘I’m excited to be single again. Marrying ourselves is different, right? It was a wonderful experience, you have to love each other. I’m a scorpion, I do whatever I can.’
