Breaking: Bandits abduct Niger State Commissioner for Information

Alhaji Muhammed Sanni Idris, Niger State Commissioner for Information, has been abducted by bandits.

Idris was kidnapped in the early hours of Monday at his country-home of Baban Tunga in Tafa Local Government Area of the state.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, and the chief press secretary to the governor, Mary Noel-Berge both confirmed the incident.

According to the SSG, the information commissioner was abducted around 1am in his home town.

He, however, said that security operatives have launched a manhunt for the abductors.

“He was kidnapped in the early hours of today (Monday) around 1am at Baban Tunga in Tafa Local Government Area.

“Security operatives are already on the trail of the kidnappers; and, we hope they find him soon and rescue him unharmed,” he said.
