Both the United States Senate and House of Representatives have, in a joint sitting chaired by the Vice President Mike Pence, confirmed the election results that gave victory to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.

Joe Biden wons total of 306 certified electoral college votes, affirming his victory.

The confirmation came after the Congress has resumed session following a forced recess due to the mob attacks at the Capitol Hill. The attack, which Biden called “insurrection” and assault on democracy was perpetuated by Trump’s supporters in a bid to disrupt the Congress.

This ritual of confirming the decision of the electors has brought to the end the uncertainties around the US presidential election.

Biden and Harris will be sworn in as President and Vice President on January 20th.
