According to report coming in gunmen have abducted another professor working with the Department of Physiology, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The professor is identified as Dr. Bako.
The incident occurred yesterday night, when gunmen stormed ABU staff quarters and whisked away both the professor and his family.
He was kidnapped along with his wife and daughter. However, the wife and daughter were said to have collapsed due to intense fear and anxiety, hence were abandoned by the kidnappers. There was intense fire exchange between the kidnappers and security agents around midnight, yesterday.
The source who spoke to Sahelian Times confirmed that the wife and daughter of Dr. Bako are currently receiving medical attention at the ABU Health Centre. The kidnappers are yet to make contact or make any demand.
This is coming a few weeks after another ABU staff, resident of same area, was kidnapped and only released after ransom money was paid.
Educational institutions in Kaduna state have lately become targets of gunmen terror activities. Some weeks ago, gunmen killed staff of a polytechnic in Zaria. It could also be recalled that the wife and children of Professor Magaji of the same ABU’s department of physiology, just recently regained freedom after spending weeks in captivity. They were also kidnapped at ABU staff quarters.
