Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has been named as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP)presidential candidate.
Members of the party’s committee set up to assist Abubakar in choosing a running mate reportedly rally behind Wike.
According to a source at the party’s headquarters, members of the panel voted in a meeting on Tuesday to choose a running partner, and Wike received 16 votes to Okowa’s three votes.
Last week, the panel was formed, consisting of previous and current governors, members of the party’s National Working Committee, and members of the Board of Trustees.
The governor is likely to be officially announced as the running mate by the party.
