President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly approved the immediate removal of Mohammed Fadah as the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to sources who spoke to TheCable, the president’s decision was taken on Thursday, and comes amid concerns over Fadah’s “incompetence”, months after he assumed office in May 2022 and became the 19th person to hold the position of NYSC DG.

The erstwhile NYSC DG upon his appointment announced that he planned to improve the security and welfare of corps members; enhance staff welfare; and improve the gains of NYSC ventures, among other plans.

However, it has become obvious that his performance didn’t match the president’s expectations, following his removal.

Following his reported removal, Fadah is said to have been asked to hand over to the most senior official within the NYSC who is expected to act as DG of the corps pending the announcement of a new appointment.
