Buhari to jet off to Spain after meeting APC Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari will fly out to Madrid, Spain today.

The President’s Special Assistant on Media, Femi Adesina, who made this known on Tuesday, added that Buhari will travel to meet the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, on whose invitation he will be traveling to the Southern European country.

Adesina added that the two leaders will discuss a number of important issues and sign some memoranda of understanding. According to him, among the issues on the table are military cooperation towards curbing insecure in the West African country, culture, crude oil exchange and other critical areas.

The President, who is currently in a meeting with State Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress will return home on Friday, June 3, 2021.

Buhari met with All Progressives Congress (APC) governors on Tuesday ahead of the party’s upcoming primary election.

The meeting, held in the presidential villa’s council chambers, comes about a week before a special convention to elect a standard-bearer for the ruling party ahead of the 2023 elections.

The convention will take place from June 6 to June 8.

The meeting was attended by Abdullahi Adamu, the APC national chairman; Boss Mustapha, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF); and the president’s chief of staff, Ibrahim Gambari.

After the meeting, neither the APC national chairman nor the governors spoke with journalists.

The APC commenced the screening of presidential hopefuls on Thursday.

So far, Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, Emeka Nwajiuba, and a few others have been screened.
