Chad reopens border, reduces curfew after Deby’s death

Chad’s new transitional military council announces the reopening of its borders today, Wednesday, after being shut on Tuesday, following the death of its leader, President Idriss Deby.

Idriss Deby died yesterday after he reportedly sustained injuries during a battle with rebels.

A curfew was also imposed after the veteran leader’s death on Tuesday and would now start from 8pm instead of 6pm, according to a statement signed by the Military council’s spokesman, Azem Bermandoa Agouna.

Muhamet Kaka, the son of late Deby has already been appointed as the country’s new President, hours after his father passed away.
