Chad’s transitional military council has announced key ministerial post which keep key ministries in the hands of allies.

The son of late Idris Deby, Mahamat Idriss Deby, 37, was put in charge of the central African country earlier this month after his father’s death, who was killed by rebels on the battlefield after more than three decades in power.

Some of the political opponents protested, immediately decrying the army’s move as a coup d’etat.

Six protesters have been shot dead during the protest while hundreds were in detention after security forces violently despersed them last week.

For the first time in Chad’s history, reconciliation and dialogue ministry has been named and new minister of justice came from opposition and he will oversee cases of the protesters.

Also, ministers of public security and national defense are both supporters of the military transitional council.

In another development, the Transformers party, which has been at the forefront of the recent anti-government protest was not included in the new government.

An opposition politician, Albert Pahimi Padacke, has been appointed as the Prime minister, he was also the runner-up in the last election held just before Deby was killed.
