The Kano State Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of cholera in the state.
The ministry’s chief epidemiologist, Sulaiman Iliyasu, who confirmed this in an interview with Freedom Radio, said the outbreak has been reported in Danbatta Local Government Area, where it has claimed two lives.
“In April, we received reports of an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhea in Danbatta, which later spread to Gwarzo Local Government Area.”
“So far, more than 25 to 30 people have been infected in the Kano suburbs,” said Iliyasu.
According to the official, the affected areas are Dala, Ungogo, and Tarauni Local Government Areas.
Dr. Sulaiman Isyaku urged the public to take extra precautions to maintain a clean environment and to immediately report any outbreak to the relevant health authorities.
