Cholera outbreak kills 20, leaves 200 hospitalized in Benue

At least 20 people have lost their lives and almost 200 are hospitalized in four local governments as a result of cholera outbreak in Benue state.

The affected local governments are Guma, Agatu, Gwer-West and Makurdi local governments in the state.

Head of National Center for Disease Control in the state, Dr. Ike Ikechukwu Oradu said the affected areas were since struggling to access clean water.

Mr. Oradu urged the state government to provide boreholes and build toilets in some villages in the state to avoid open defecations to curb the tendencies of future outbreak.
