National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has ordered accredited journalists covering party activities to leave the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

A security operative chasing the journalist away from the secretariat claimed to be acting on the national chairman’s orders.

Adamu, who was dissatisfied with the party’s national working committee’s (NWC) decision to denounce the endorsement of Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate, said he was returning to the secretariat to hold a meeting, but the venue was too crowded.

Adamu was said to have announced Lawan as a consensus candidate at a meeting of NWC in Abuja on Monday.

He told the NWC members that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari has, however, denied endorsing any aspirant, saying that there won’t be imposition of candidate.
