The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has threatened to lock down the state again, as the cases of Covid-19 increase.
The governor disclosed this through his media aide, Abdallah Yunus Abdallah, in an interview with BBC Hausa on Thursday.
The aide said that it is the responsibility of the governor to protect the lives of Kaduna citizens.
He assured that the government will be left with no option other than locking down the state if people continue to defy rules set to protect them from the virus.
“The responsibility of fighting the virus, is now a responsibility of the citizens, not that of the government. It has become mandatory for the people to protect their lives, ” he said.
The governor, on Wednesday, had announced 64 new cases in the state. This sharp rise in cases is a sign of second wave of the pandemic, which is likely facilitated by cross border transportations and crowding due to harmattan weather that makes social distancing difficult.
