The National Youth Service Corps has said that the corps member, Saidu Mohammed, who was hit by a stray bullet during an assignment at Saturday’s by-election in Ekiti state, is in stable condition.

In his interview with newsmen after he visited the Corp member at Federal Teaching Hospital, Edo-Ekiti where he is receiving treatment, Director, South-West Area Office, Mr Emmanuel Attah, said Saidu is in stable condition.

The Director condemned the activities of the miscreants that truncated the election and commended Saidu and other Corps Members that volunteered to serve as ad-hoc electoral officers.

He sympathized with Corps Member Saidu and others that sustained injuries during the election, while he urged Members of the public to provide adequate security and enabling environment for Corps members posted to their respective communities.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has said that the suspects behind the violence in Saturday’s bye-election for Ekiti East Constituency 1 of the State House Assembly have been arrested.

The Governor, who had warned that no one involved in the violence would go unpunished, revealed that the suspects will be taken to court on Monday to face the consequences of their action.
