A Chinese court has sentenced a 19-year-old pro-democracy activist to four months in prison for insulting China’s national flag.

Tony Chung was convicted earlier this month for throwing the Chinese flag to the ground during fights with two members of a pro-China group.

Chung also faces additional charges of money laundering and conspiring to publish seditious content.

He has been in custody since late October when he was arrested by plain-clothes police opposite the US consulate.
