Court remands Chinese in jail over Ummita’s murder

A court in Kano State has remanded a Chinese citizen, accused of murdering Ummukulsum Sani Buhari, popularly known as Ummita, to prison.

Mr. Geng Quanrong 47, is accused of killing the young woman, which is in violation of Section 221 of the Kano State Penal Code.

The judge, Justice Hanif Sanusi Chiroma, therefore, sent the Chinese national to prison pending the court’s next session.

According to sources, the incident happened on Friday night, when Geng, broke into the deceased’s home, in Janbulo quarters of ​​Gwale Local Government.

Commenting on the issue, Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, opined that the murder is unjustified and justice must take its course on the suspected assailant.
