A magistrate court sitting at Gidan Murtala, under Her Lordship Justice Hauwa Lawal Minjibir, has adjourned the case of culpable homicide filed against Hauwa Habibu, and ordered for the accused to be remanded in a psychiatric home for evaluation, pending further hearing.

Hauwa is being accused of hacking to death her only two children with machete. She was arrested by the police in October at her parent’s home, following the discovery of the dead bodies at her matrimonial home.

However, she has denied all the charges through her legal representation, Barrister Huwaila Ibrahim, who also asked the court to keep Hauwa under psychiatrist’s care, to evaluate her mental condition.

The court granted the defence counsel’s prayer, which was not challenged by the prosecution attorney Barrister Lamido sorondinki.

The case has been adjourned to 5th of January next year for further hearing.
