A Sharia Court sitting Kano has sentenced a 45-year-old man to three years in prison for defrauding one Nura Iliyasu of N1.3 million.
The man identified as Ado Muhammad committed the offense on September 14, 2021, at Kunya Town, Kano.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant was entrusted with N1.3m by one Nura Iliyasu to purchase a car for him, and, “In the process, the defendant converted the said money to his own personal use.”
Malam Isah Rabiu-Gaya, the presiding Judge, sentenced the defendant to an N30,000 fine and ordered the defendant to pay the complainant N1.3m in compensation.
