A Kano State High Court sitting at Miller Road has issued an order to the Kano State Government to stop the planned sale of a hospital located in the neighborhood of Yan Awaki, Kofar Wambai Quarters, in Kano.

Residents of the Yan Awaki community, numbering 113, submitted their complaint to the court through their counsel, Barrister Badamasi Sulaiman Gandu seeking for a restraint order on the Kano State Government to halt the sale of the hospital.

Justice Maryam Sabo ordered that the Kano State Government suspend its action until the court completes the hearing of both parties.

According to reports, certain people are trying to take over the hospital and turn it into a shopping plaza.

The government has come under constant criticism from the public over its alleged involvement in the conversion of spaces within markets to plazas and encroachment of the Kano city walls for commercial purposes.
