COVID-19 protocol in animals for Nigeria, unveiled.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono, is reported to have presented COVID-19 Protocol in Animals for the country.

Alhaji Muhammadu Sabo Nanono, whose brief was held by Dr. Saleh Momale, presented the protocol developed by the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) in Abuja.

President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Dr. Aishatu Abubakar Baju, explained that, the document was developed by the Ministry, in collaboration with relevant agencies and core-stakeholders.

Dr. Aishatu Baju, who is also an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, emphasized that, the protocol was borne out of the desire of the council, to contribute its quota to the fight against the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in the country, by instilling the spirit of one world, one wealth, mantra.

“The protocol is designed to be a guide for animal owners who test positive to COVID-19, highlights the risk, groups that need to avoid contact with COVID-19 infected animals, as well as states the criteria for testing and retesting positive animals.”
