The suspended Chief Imam of Apo Legislative Quarter’s Mosque, Sheikh Nuru Khalid, has claimed that both the chair and deputy chair of the mosque’s committee who came from Zamfara and Niger states cannot travel to their states due to insecurity.
Sheikh Khalid reacted in an interview he had with BBC Hausa, where he questioned how these people that are victims of insecurity would suspend him for preaching against government failure to tackle the problem.
“The Committee Chairman is from Zamfara, where many girls have been raped in the presence of their parents and mothers in the presence of their children.”
“The Vice Chairman of the committee is from Niger. He can’t visit his home state because of insecurity. Another member of the committee is from Sabon Birni, which is currently inaccessible due to insecurity.”
Sheikh Khalid also denied the claim made by Dansadau that he was summoned and cautioned against his provocative sermons 7 times by the mosque committee.
While dismissing the claim, he hinted at the possibility that Dansadau’s memory might have been affected by old age, forcing him to make such an unsubstantiated claim.
“He should have mentioned just one of the seven occasions when he summoned me for my wrong utterances, but he didn’t,” alleged Sheikh Khalid.
“We had a meeting with him once, and that is fine. I did say I don’t want to sit with anyone and discuss my way of preaching, but to say that we met seven times is not true. Perhaps it is due to old age,” the cleric questioned.
Sheikh Khalid stated that Dansadau was present in the mosque when he was delivering the sermon but made no gesture to draw his attention to the message he felt was wrong.
He vowed to continue preaching as long as the killing of innocent citizens in Nigeria continues while advising President Muhammad Buhari to get a soft landing before it is too late for him.
