A Kano based lawyer, Barrister S. S Umar, described the arrest of former aide of Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as a move to serve the interest of political elites in the state.
In an interview with SAHELIAN TIMES, he said that the statement that led to the arrest of the Salihu Tanko Yakasai a.k.a Ɗawisu has been previously said by many prominent Nigerians.
“The arrest was illegal and lacked vision and has portrayed how directionless the DSS is, it is highly unfortunate that we still have such problems in Nigeria.”
S. S Umar lamented that, this has indicated that Nigeria is fast moving into anarchy if a citizen cannot publicly express his personal opinion.
Responding to the DSS statement that Tanko Yakasai is being investigated beyond his social media comment, the lawyer said that, “there should have let the public know the reason behind the arrest.”
He argued that the DSS should by now bury their head in shame for arresting a law abiding citizen, instead of focusing their attention on bandits and kidnappers that are killing innocent citizens almost every day.
