Despite curfew miscreants demolish 2 Mosques,, burn 14 shops, at vegetables market in Jos South

Two Mosques, were reportedly demolished, 14 shops looted and burned down at building materials market of Jos South Local Government Area, of Plateau State by miscreants.

Chairman of the Vegetables Traders Association, in the state Mr. Dalyop Pwasa, confirmed the incident.

“Yes is true that some people have entered into our market on Wednesday, they break some shops, stole properties and burned 14 shops.

“They have also destroyed two Mosques in the market,” he confirmed.

Corroborating his statement, the Association Secretary, Alhaji Fodio Umar, said the two Mosques were completely demolished during the curfew.

“It is confirmed that some miscreants, have demolished the two Mosques in our market,” he said. “They started the demolition on Wednesday and completed Thursday and they have completely pulled down the Mosques to foundation level.”

Alhaji Umar said they also bugled their shops and set many of the shops on fire.

According Umar, reports have been made to the police area command at Sabon Barki, who have requested that the two Imams of the Mosques should see him at his office.

“The curfew situation has made us not go and see the extend of damages on our properties,” he said. “But our chairman was there.”

Alhaji Umar said the Association chairman, Mr. Dalyop Pwasa, has been on the issue since Wednesday.

“He has been doing his best, he mobilise trucks that evacuated lots of our goods out of this market.

“He was the one that called fire fighters that quenched the inferno” he said.

Efforts at getting comments from the Police spokesman, ASP Ubah Ogaba, failed abortive as calls to his phone were not answered, text message was also not responded to, as at the time of filing this report.
