The Department of Security Service (DSS) on Wednesday detained the foremost critic of President Buhari administration, Dr. Usman Bugaje, for over 8 hours.

Dr. Bugaje had served as a Political Adviser to the then Vice President Atiku Abubakar, under the Obasanjo administration.

He has over the years become an ardent critic of the present administration from northern Nigeria.

In an interview with SAHELIAN TIMES, Bugaje’s wife, Dr. Mairo Mandara, said he was invited by the DSS at 10:00 am on Wednesday.

“He went to acknowledge their invitation around 10: 00 am. They later released him on bail around 5 pm in the evening, a few minutes after I posted the story of his arrest on social media,” she said.

It’s not immediately clear what prompted the DSS invitation; however, in her tweet- Dr Mandara had hinted about his appearance at AIT program where he criticized Buhari’s government poor handling of national security.
